Each year, the Scholarship Foundation invites high school seniors in Southern Santa Barbara County and the Santa Ynez Valley to submit a portfolio of original art work for its Art Scholarship Competition. Prominent local artists judge the submissions, which can include painting, drawing, sketching, photography, design, furniture, and sculpture. Each winner receives a $3,000-$3,500 scholarship; the best of show winner receives an additional $1,000 scholarship. The Foundation subsequently hosts a reception for selected student artists, where representative works from the winning portfolio are exhibited.
