The Scholarship Foundation Board of Directors has welcomed three new members in recent weeks.
Jen Brown (pictured left) is a retired attorney whose legal work over two decades included high-profile litigation spanning multiple continents. A graduate of Gonzaga University School of Law, Jen went on to become a partner at the global law firm Cozen O’Connor, and later served as associate general counsel for Patriot National Insurance Group, where she oversaw London market and U.S. insurance coverage matters, including NFL concussion lawsuits. In recent years she has supported education-based nonprofit organizations in Santa Barbara, Munich, Cape Town, and Seattle, including the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara.
Tessa Kaganoff is a former policy analyst whose community service efforts have included volunteer work and board service on behalf of Upward Bound House in Santa Monica and Congregation B’nai B’rith, among others. A native of Goleta, Tessa received a bachelor’s degree in psychology at Vassar College before earning a master’s degree in public policy at Duke University and an MBA at UCLA. She began her career as a policy analyst at the RAND Corporation and subsequently joined the fundraising staff at UCLA, serving first as a principal gifts research analyst and later as director of prospect research.
Phil Franklin is a retired finance executive who currently serves as a Board director for TTM Technologies and as a trustee for XFLT, a closed-end alternative investment fund. A graduate of Dartmouth College, Phil began his career at FMC Corporation before being named chief financial officer at OmniQuip International, a manufacturer of light construction equipment, and later Littelfuse, a designer, manufacturer, and seller of circuit protection devices. As chairman of the Board for Tribune Publishing, Phil oversaw the newspaper holding company’s sale to Alden Global Capital in 2021.
