Judging for this year’s South County Art Scholarship Competition took place this afternoon at Community Friends of Santa Barbara (formerly known as Assistance League of Santa Barbara). As always, the talent on display was quite impressive! Next Thursday, we’ll host our Santa Ynez Valley Art Scholarship Competition. We can’t wait to see those submissions!

Meet Program Advisor Sarahi Larios Cruz! Sarahi has been supporting Southern Santa Barbara County students since September. She’s a recent University of Oregon graduate with a degree in Sociology and minors in Spanish, Nonprofit Administration, and Secondary Educational Foundations. With years of experience at Girls Inc., both as a participant and a staff member, she has strong local nonprofit experience and a passion for student support.

As former scholarship recipients, Board members Guille Gil-Reynoso and Donna Weidl know firsthand how transformative Foundation assistance can be. Now they are helping to launch the Alumni Legacy Scholarship. Once fully funded, this scholarship will support 12 local students as they pursue their educational goals.
