NPG of California is a division of News-Press & Gazette Company, a fourth-generation family-owned business that started back in 1845. It all began in the small town of St. Joseph, Missouri, where the company still maintains its headquarters. This family company has grown to include more than 40 broadcast television stations and a dozen digital media sites in 10 markets across the country.
NPG of California acquired KEYT in 2012. The company now consists of four television stations: KEYT, the ABC affiliate; KKFX, the FOX affiliate; KCOY, the CBS affiliate under a shared services agreement; and the NOW Channel, a local news and weather station combined with the My Network programming. Their coverage area spans the entire tri-county area, with news and sales teams across the region located in offices in Ventura, Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, and San Luis Obispo.
KEYT anchors are locally and nationally renowned for their support of the local community and their award-winning storytelling. The team earned an Emmy for their coverage of the Refugio Oil Spill in 2015, and several anchors have earned multiple regional Golden Mike Awards for various stories. Many of the on-camera staff contribute their time supporting local nonprofits with board appointments, event sponsorships, and volunteer appearances.
NPG of California’s vision is to become the most indispensable media company up and down the coast by setting the gold standard for excellence in journalism and local programming while building stronger communities and exceeding customer expectations. During the Thomas Fire and mud slide that followed, the entire team lived this vision, working through the emergency and embracing their critical role in keeping the community informed.
