$2.5 Million Bequest Received From Dale Cavalletto
The estate of Dale Cavalletto has established the Scholarship Foundation's largest endowed fund with a specific direction to create the George A. Cavalletto Law Scholarship Fund in honor of her husband, George A. Cavalletto, who died in June 2000. Mr. Cavalletto, Goleta pioneer farmer and businessman, was a founder of the law firm of Cavalletto, Webster, Mullen, and McCaughey (now Mullen & Henzell).
In 1996 with a gift of $2 million, the Cavallettos established the George and Dale Cavalletto/Goleta Rotary Endowed Scholarship Fund for high achieving local students who demonstrate a strong work ethic and a commitment to community service.
Mrs. Cavalletto's daughter, Valerie Fuette, recalls that her mother and stepfather had a strong belief in the power of education to improve the life of a community, "It was my mother's idea to establish the scholarship in memory of George to honor his outstanding career in law. I can imagine that George would have been a bit embarrassed by the recognition, but proud to encourage others to pursue a career he loved."
